Since 1992, more than 1,700 RMIT students from all disciplines have been given the opportunity to work overseas thanks to outstanding opportunities provided by the RMIT International Industry Experience and Research Program (RIIERP).
These opportunities are available to undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing programs by coursework or research. Supervised by industry professionals RIIERP participants complete six to twelve months placements in some of the world’s best-practice companies throughout Europe, North America and Asia. Postgraduate research students receive generous grants to undertake three year PhD programs or one year Master by research programs. Currently, there are 165 international companies involved in RIIERP, including such respected names as Airbus, EADS, Bentley Motors, the Siemens Group, Nestle, McQuay, Robert Bosch, Volkswagen, BMW, and the Rolls-Royce Group in Europe and North America.
Students participating in RIIERP gain the major advantage of maximising their educational experience and professional development through work-integrated learning – ‘learning by doing’. They are exposed to work ethic in different cultural environments, thus RIIERP is an important part of RMIT’s commitment to providing graduates with a “global passport” and giving them a head start on the international job market.
