Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering
2009/10: EADS, Manching (Germany)

Working with EADS in Germany has provided me with access to the latest research in Aerospace Engineering as well as having the opportunity to be mentored by and learn from the experts in my field. Work involves but is not limited to FEM analysis and design of composite structures for various aircraft components. I have had the opportunity to travel to different plants across Germany and look at the aircraft manufacturing and assembly process. Through Military Air Systems, the competence centre of EADS Defence and Security for airborne military systems, I have been given a unique insight into the Aerospace and Aviation field. The knowledge I have gained is absolutely priceless and second to none.

I have had the opportunity to travel to many countries and places. Highlights include skiing in Austria, attending the Oktoberfest in Munich, and visiting Prague in the Czech Republic. Germany, my home country has offered itself with warmth and friendliness through its people and festivals, and I have made so many new friends.

History is everywhere. My home town of Ingolstadt was where the fictious Victor Frankenstein began his research, where the secret society of the Illuminati was born, where the purity laws of the infamous German beer were founded, and were AUDI car company consort with EADS’ Military Air Systems Centre. Life switches between the fantasy of fairy tales and the efficiency and technological mastery of modern Germany. The food and drink is both hearty and wholesome, and a source of national pride. There are so many different types of Wurst (Sausages) that you can never be sure of what you are eating unless a local is by your side.

My time abroad has been unforgettable; be it enjoying a casual lunch with my work colleagues or going out with my German friends on the weekend. I must truly thank both RIIERP and EADS for this amazing opportunity.
