Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering
2009/10: EADS, Bremen (Germany)

I was working in EADS Astrium, Space Transportation Bremen, Germany for the last 4.5 months. I was assigned to the Thermal protection systems department where I had the opportunity to experience a space engineering work environment. It was an invaluable experience as I was able to perform thermal analysis work and physical testing that will be used to complete projects that will aid in the continual operation of the European launch vehicle, Ariane 5 as well as other significant space projects such as the automated transfer vehicle, ATV, which services the International space station. I was able to use the knowledge I had gained within the last three years of my academic life in a practical environment.

This internship experience abroad not only aided me to grow in a professional engineering environment, it had opened doors to a different culture, a different way of living. My time here allowed me to also travel and experience what it means to be a citizen of Germany and see how the daily life differs to that of my own in Australia. Furthermore I was able to grasp how Astrium and the work performed there affect the general public, there in Europe.

A privilege and an experience not to be missed.
