I participated in RIIERP whilst studying Bachelor of Applied Science (Food Science and Technology) at RMIT.
During my time at the Nestle Product Technology Centre (PTC) I investigated the factors influencing glass transition on the undesired agglomeration of food powders. Through this opportunity, I have gained valuable work experience and research skills working alongside project managers who are experts in their field of research.
Living and working abroad in Germany has challenged me to live independently outside my comfort zone, developing my self-reliance, resourcefulness and ability to adapt to new situations. I have gained a greater understanding and insight into other people’s backgrounds, cultures, beliefs and values.
On a professional note, I believe that the training I have been provided with has increased my confidence, vocational skills, knowledge and understanding of the global food industry and its impact on consumers. This has contributed to my development as an effective employee when entering the Australian workforce.
I would recommend this program to any budding graduating scientific researcher, as the companies associated with RIIERP are global leaders in their field boasting well-equipped research and technology centres in Europe, where there is great emphasis on innovation.
