Master of International Automotive Engineering
2010: FEV Motorentechnik GmbH, Germany 2010
My industry experience program in Germany was absolutely fantastic – a real eye opener. I worked at FEV, an engine technology development company in Aachen, Germany. I was involved in a hybrid vehicle project and could apply the technical skills learnt in University and through engineering simulations to solve real life engineering problems. I also had the opportunity to test prototype vehicles! I gained advanced engineering knowledge from experienced engineers and had access to their state of the art automotive technologies.
The six months placement in Germany was the best time of my life. I have never had a dull moment, because there were so many things I wanted to learn and do. It was fascinating to experience the German working culture, the lifestyle and to see festivals like the famous Oktoberfest. As an international student I was accommodated by the FH Aachen, and joined other European exchange students in their adventures. I have made good friends from Germany but also from Italy, France, and Romania.
Finally, my internship at FEV did not only prepare me well to work in the automotive industry, but it also helped me to secure full time employment with this industry-leading engine technology company upon the completion of the internship.
