The RMIT International Industry Experience and Research Program (RIIERP) is the only one of its kind in Australia. It provides opportunities for students across all RMIT disciplines to undertake international work experience and research within leading organisations in Europe, North America and Asia.
RIIERP offers six main work placement and collaborative research opportunities. These program components have been designed to match student needs with company requirements and to maximise the relevance of participating students’ current level of study and experience.

You have the opportunity to collaborate with peers from different countries and refine your professional and interpersonal skills. Working at a high-tech company or research institution under the supervision of industry experts can open the door to potential employment with the respective company or inspire further research at a postgraduate level.
Length: 6 to 10 months

You will be working in a reputable international company for 6 to 12 months which will ease your transition into the increasingly competitive global job market. RIIERP Graduates are highly in demand by the Australian and international industry. Some graduates have been offered full-time employment abroad as a result of their performance on this program.

Back to topAs a RIIERP postgraduate student you have the opportunity to work and conduct your research in some of the best research facilities worldwide.
In response to increasingly diversified areas of research, RIIERP has established collaboration with high-tech companies such as BASF AG, Robert Bosch GmbH, Volkswagen AG, TRANE, as well as reputable international research institutions such as the German Aerospace Research Establishment in Oberpfaffenhofen Space Division and Stuttgart Space Division, and the Space and Astronautics Division in Collogne.
As well as sharing their expertise and infrastructural resources these partners provide co-supervision and generous grants to support participating students.

Back to topAs a postdoctoral fellow you have the opportunity to hone your research skills at renowned research institutions around the world. Enjoy access to global research infrastructure and be part of RMIT’s collaborative research and consulting work with world class partner institutions overseas.
This component of the program promotes RMIT’s active involvement in high quality research at an international level and offers the opportunity to publish in reputable international journal and conference proceedings.
Length: 1 to 2 years.

Back to topThis component of the program was introduced to enable students who are not able to go overseas to be involved in high-quality multinational projects during the course of their studies at RMIT campuses.
You will have the opportunity to work on projects for partner companies while attending your normal lectures at RMIT. You will learn to work in a consulting capacity as you manage the projects and keep in regular communication with the overseas company.
