Graduating to a new chapter

Graduates celebrated with friends, family … and teddies

Graduates celebrated with friends, family … and teddies.

More than 5,700 graduates have celebrated their hard work and achievements at Australia’s biggest graduation event, RMIT University’s 2009 Graduation Ceremony.

More than 20,000 family and friends looked on as the students collected their degrees at Etihad Stadium, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their professional lives.

Earlier in the day, more than 3,000 students, alumni and staff gathered in Bowen Street at RMIT’s City campus for the Graduation Parade.

The dress code was academic robes and mortarboards, with RMIT flags the accessory of choice, as the lively parade travelled along Swanston Street.

Friends and relatives lined the route, joining the crowd of graduates for a free morning tea at Federation Square.
