Professor George Cairns, Head of the School of Management, speaks about global logistics.
More than 50 participants attended the launch of Working Papers in Sustainable Organisations and Work at RMIT University.
Produced by the Centre for Sustainable Organisations and Work, the Working Papers are an ongoing peer-reviewed series dedicated to the exploration of critical debates across a wide array of social science disciplines.
Though diverse in subject matter, the series is connected by common enquiries into the concept of sustainability, and developing an understanding of people in the context of significant social, economic and organisational change.
The series was launched with an introduction into three key issues.
Professor George Cairns, Head of the School of Management, spoke about global logistics and the whole-of-life supply chain.
Dr Meagan Tyler spoke about applying a gendered analysis to bushfire research in Australia.
Finally, Geoff Rigby from the School of Business IT and Logistics discussed service chains and vulnerability in relation to the tourism and hospitality sector.
Professor Cairns said: "I was really impressed with the diversity of the work represented; it shows that the Centre is attracting and developing an impressive array of talent from across the University and beyond.
“I think it’s obvious to everyone that the Centre has real momentum which is underpinned by quality research."
The event was hosted by Dr Bernard Mees and included remarks from Professor Ian Palmer, Pro Vice-Chancellor Business and Vice-President, and Professor Daine Alcorn, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation and Vice-President.
