After last year's spectacular production of Roald Dahl's The BFG, RMIT Link Arts and Culture is back with another season of riotous theatre just for kids.

Adapted from The Very Bad Book, written by award-winning Australian author Andy Griffiths and illustrated by Terry Denton, The Very Bad Show is filled with the irreverent humour that children love.

The fast-paced show, which features stories, dancing, jokes and riddles performed by a cast of RMIT student actors, opened recently for its school season.

Author Andy Griffiths was there, along with students from Williamstown Primary School, for the very first show. Afterwards, Mr Griffiths described the show as "excellent - the very baddest show I have ever seen".

Bringing to life, in rapid-fire succession, the 60 stories, jokes and cartoons contained in the recently released The Very Bad Book wasn't an easy task for director Lynne Ellis and designer Paul Blackman.

The pair created an imaginative combination of puppets, dolls, films, projections and live action to ensure that the show is fast-paced - and keeps little people entertained from start to finish.

Over 21 years, RMIT Link Arts and Culture (formerly RMIT Union Arts) shows have introduced tens of thousands of children to the joys of live theatre, performance and literature.

The Very Bad Show will be on for the public at Kaleide Theatre until 21 January, Monday to Friday, with shows daily at 10.30am and 1pm.
